Nigerian Immigration Service begins issuance of new passport with 10-year validity
The Nigeria Immigration Service has commenced the issuance of the new passport booklet with 10-year validity at its headquarters, Abuja.
The new booklet will be available in Ikoyi on June 3; Alausa, Lagos on July 8; and London on July 29, 2019. The enhanced polycarbonate booklet with 64 pages, which was launched by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 15, 2019, was embedded with the National Identity Number and costs N70,000.
Conducting journalists round the passport office in Abuja on Monday, the NIS Public Relations Officer, DCI Sunday James, said the new booklet was part of a comprehensive passport reform approved by the Federal Government to improve the quality and security of the travel document as well as to reduce incidence of damage, counterfeit, and forgery.
He explained that it was compulsory for passport applicants to have a NIN, adding that the NIS management had set up a desk at the passport office where individuals can register for the NIN.  James stated, “the National Identity Number is compulsory for all applicants to the new document. To make it easy for applicants, the Nigeria Immigration Service has provided space for National Identity Management Commission at the service headquarters, Abuja, to register applicants and issue to them the NIN. The public are advised not to rush for the new booklet, as the new enhanced passport will run concurrently with the old one.”

The NIS spokesman further said that applicants holding a passport with more than six months’ validity are not eligible for the new booklet, except in the case of damage, change of data and those whose booklets have been exhausted. He advised applicants to pay online or directly to the banks situated within the passport offices.

Horrifying Video: Soldier breaks a man
The Nigerian Army has reacted to the viral video of some soldiers attacking a civilian man. In the video which has been making the rounds on social media, the soldiers could be seen breaking the leg of the man and attempting to force him to eat his flesh.
In a statement released this morning. the Nigerian Army says the soldiers in the viral soldiers are not their members.
Read the statement below
MUTILATING FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS NOT IN OUR CHARACTER, TRAINING, MANDATE & STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES
The Nigerian Army (NA) has observed with dismay a video clip circulating on some social media platforms showing some persons in camouflage uniform mercilessly disfiguring a leg of a fellow human being, with some others shabbily, carelessly and variously dressed. Some are wearing bathroom slippers.
The NA wishes to emphatically state that having thoroughly examined the video and investigated further, it has reached the factual conclusion that all the characters involved in the despicable act are not personnel of the NA.
The action of the characters in the video clip particularly the act of meting out cruel punishment, talk less of decapitating a part of a fellow human being is not licensed, encouraged or condoned by the NA and is entirely against NA's training, Code of Conduct (COC), Rules of Engagement (ROE) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in or out of conflict situations.
Instructively, the camouflage used by the characters in the video is not the type been used in the NA and does not in any way conform to the dress code of the NA.
Similarly, NA troops are not allowed to wear bathroom slippers and civil outfits during operations.

NA troops fighting insurgency in Nigeria, have severally captured many terrorists, took custody of many surrendered terrorists some of whom have been prosecuted, while those that voluntarily surrendered are undergoing de-radicalization and rehabilitation under the Federal Government programme codenamed Operation SAFE CORRIDOR.
NA wishes to once again remind members of the public that not all photos and videos being circulated on social media and other outlets are truly members of the NA. NA has also severally and consistently made it clear that it monitors and will continue to monitor the actions of its personnel to ensure they are in conformity with extant laws and in line with International best practices.
Under the present leadership of the NA, sufficient efforts have been made to ensure personnel respect human rights in line with the ROE, COC and SOP. Any violation attracts appropriate punishment in accordance with the extant military justice system.
Members of the public are requested to note that the barbaric act (as shown in the video clip), has often been associated with the terrorists either as a punishment to one of their own or to send out powerful message to their followers and the larger public with the sole aim of instilling fear which is one of the major basis and aims of terrorists/terrorism.

My Journey So Far (The Power Of Music) by Twinchild Edozie

My Journey So Far (The Power Of Music) by Twinchild Edozie

My Journey So Far (The Power Of Music)
by Twinchild Edozie

Music Calms My Nerves by _Twinchild Edozie
Have you ever been touched by the magical wand of music? If you have, then you will agree with me when I say, Music is a healing pill in a sound form. Though It does come in different types (genres) and affects each individual differently, it’s essence never changed. Despite its cultural enrichment, we always acknowledge its ability to speak to our emotions. I had learned to love music in general (Writing, Singing, and Listening) from creche and since have known its soothing and healing powers. I know you haven’t forgotten how your mother sang you to a total calmness from horrid cry and slowly serenade you to sleep. If you have, well I haven’t, I experienced such beautiful time uncountable times, and I bet you, it was the beginning to what you now see today.
Listen to the album while reading the text.
The Sound of Dreams
As a child, I had always loved listening to music be it a lullaby, local rhythm or classical music, they had impacts on me in different ways, and they were all fulfilling. When my mother’s lullaby was the best of it all not only because it was sung by my mother, but it was the first musical sound I heard and so left an indelible print in my head and heart. The softness of the vocal cord, the appealing words, the serenity and the genuineness of its intent combined to make it special. It formed the basic foundation in my musical art, traditional and classical music refined my craft in music creation.
As a child, I knew the power of music on human, and as I grew up, I never strayed from that part. I had since then cemented my relationship with music to the point, nothing else matters but music. I believe that helped strengthen my resolve to face the trouble ahead which in all counts is eminent.
Becoming a songwriter and possibly a published songster was always my dream, though bringing that dream to fruition was never a work over but with passion, hard work, a bit of luck and above all, the grace of God, it wasn’t going to be overly hard.
Mountains to Climb
From the very beginning, it seemed impossible. There were a lot of mountains to climb and hurdles to jump over which included limited resources, unfair playing ground, lack of support from people around me to mention but a few.
You know what it means when your own family does not believe in your dreams. It does a lot of damage mentally, more than all other challenges combined. It was part of the challenges I had to overcome to make it to where I want to be, and I wasn’t going to let it dampened my resolve. If I was going to make it, I will learn to deal with it, knowing it was not going to be easy I faced it head on anyways.
I was always believed that if I do not give up, everything will fall into place. Yeah, I never did hence this story, thanks to God, you reading this story, passion and the soothing power of music. It had always calmed me down when the heat is up.
The Healing Power of Music
I had always attributed my continual making of music even when it wasn’t actually paying to my undying love for the art and for the healing influence it got on me. I had written and composed about 90% of my songs while I was down, out or broken. Basically, I deal with downtime with songwriting and composition, be it heartbreak, loneliness or depression. Believe me; music has the power to turn your depression to cheerfulness, just make good music your friend in times you think no one cares. Sing to yourself and watch how those sad feelings disappear.

Remembering those broken days and lonely nights brings tears in my eyes, but when I listen to the beautiful words weaved into songs amidst those horrid tears, it sparks an elated smile from my both cheeks. It always reminds me that nothing good comes in a platter of gold.
Listening to my creations is quiet heart lifting and getting other people to enjoy it is heaven to me. As to most arts, music is a means to an end; it is a medium, a line of communication. It speaks to our emotions, it lifts, calms or brings to sobriety so a creator of music must communicate some of these feelings through his or her musical work. Been able to create these feelings of fulfillment and joy in other people from my music elates me.
When I look back at my musical works as at the moment, though I won’t say they are the best I got but I will say to an extent, I have been able to create something that will generate several healing effects depending on what you are in need of.
New Dawn the Album
When you listen, sing, hum or dance to my song you make me the happiest man on earth. Knowing that someone somewhere in the world is loving my work gives me reason to do more and do it better and better.
My debut album “New Dawn” consisting of 15 tracks has in it songs for every moment and every mood. Each of the tracks was written and composed in a different circumstance and with a different message and feeling. The album was released on 1st October 2018 in all digital platform and since has been blessing many around the world. Am so happy for the response so far and still do expect more of your support.

I owe the success of my musical work to you and all the lovers of my works out there, you guys have made that little boy dream come through, and so deserve my respect and the best. I will always do the best I can to give you something worthwhile. I love you!
If you haven’t heard my piece, check it out, it is in all digital platforms. kindly follow me on social media: Instagram: @twinchild_edozie Twitter: @TwinchildEdozie Facebook: Twinchild Edozie. Feel free to ask me questions if you have any for me.
Hey Mama! We’ve made it, those broken days, lonely and sleepiness nights were not in vain. Thank you for blessing me with those serenades, they were so instrumental.
Thank you for reading and more importantly for supporting my vision. I really do appreciate. Stay well, shun crimes and keep chasing your dreams, it will definitely come through if you refuse to give up. The longer it takes, the better it will be when it finally drops.

Officers responded to a 911 call from a family member which led to the original discovery of four bodies and an injured person at the first home at Charles Brown Road between Portland and Westmoreland.
A short time later, a fifth body was found at another house on Luby Brown Road.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed on Sunday that two more bodies were found, which they say are connected to the homicide investigation.
They believe a female victim was carjacked on Saturday night and was targeted in a random attack. They claim she was not related to the other people who were killed.
Forensic scientists discovered another body at the house on Charles Brown Road, bring the total death toll to seven.
In a Twitter update, TBI said on Sunday afternoon: 'Our Forensic Scientists, processing the scene on Charles Brown Road, have found a sixth body in the home. This brings the total to seven deaths and one critical injury.  'Efforts to identify the victims remain ongoing at this time.'
During the brutal slaying, it is understood Cummins' grandmother was badly beaten and she is the sole survivor of the attack.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Special Agents are continuing to discover a possible motive for the horrific crime.

Cummins was arrested on Saturday night after being shot about a mile away from one of the Sumner County crime scenes, TBI spokesman Josh DeVine said.
DeVine said he produced weapons when officers tracked him down, which resulted in him being shot at least once and taken to hospital.
Authorities have not yet said what kind of weapon was used and DeVine said Sunday he had no additional information.
They captured Cummins after a manhunt lasting several hours after officers identified him as a suspect at an early stage.
Cummins allegedly killed seven people including his parents during Saturday's violent rampage. Police said a woman, who was the victim of a carjacking, was murdered and is not related to Cummins' other victims

The TBI used a helicopter and eventually found him cowering in a muddy creek about a mile from where one of the shootings occurred. DeVine said at least one officer fired at Cummins after he emerged from the woods.

He is believed to have produced multiple weapons and the situation escalated. He was then taken to a hospital for treatment for what are believed to be injuries that are not life threatening, DeVine said. Neighbors expressed their shock and sadness as news of the killings began to filter through the town.

Bill Heyes told News Channel 5: 'I'm not as shocked as I should be, I've been waiting for this guy to get caught for a while.
'He's done a bunch of trouble, we kind of all saw it coming, not this, but we saw something coming.'
Meanwhile a family member set up a GoFundMe account to help pay funeral expenses for David and Clara Cummins and shared pictures of the some of the victims.
'He may be in the woods in the area near the scene and may be armed. If you spot him, call 911 immediately,' the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation tweeted. Cummins was caught soon after
None of the officers who responded to Saturday's shooting were injured. TBI's airplane was able to help authorities spot Cummins on the ground in a creek bed, DeVine said.
A number of law enforcement agencies had been searching for Cummins, saying he could be armed and dangerous.
'The community should hopefully be able to rest a little bit easier tonight, knowing that (Cummins) is in custody tonight,'  DeVine said.
A tactical SWAT team of a dozen officers was sent into the woods to capture the suspect.

The five killings appeared to have occurred late afternoon on Saturday in two locations.
More than a dozen law enforcement officers from the county’s joint SWAT Team went to the creek and arrested him.
TBI agents and forensics are continuing to work to piece together relevant evidence into the six murders that took place and are interviewing family members and neighbors who knew Cummins.
WROC-TV reported that he has a lengthy criminal background in Sumner County with signs of escalating violence.
He was first arrested in December 2012 for violation of an order of protection and simple possession of drugs. He was released about a month later on time served.
In August 2013, he was arrested again for domestic assault and sentenced to 150 days in jail.
Police announced that they had caught Michael Cummins, 25, by 11 o'clock on Saturday night.
Sumner County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating after multiple people were killed in a home in Sumner County, a rural suburb, northeast of Nashville.
A few years later, in 2017, Cummins was arrested in Sumner County three more times. In February 2017, he was charged with theft under $1,000 and evading arrest. Police records indicate he posted bond. Later in June, he served nearly two months in jail for robbery, domestic assault and violation of probation for the theft charge.
Three months later, in September 2017, Cummins was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated arson (charge reduced to attempted aggravated arson), escape (reduced to resisting arrest), and violation of probation for domestic assault, evading arrest and theft. He was sentenced to 180 days on each charge day-for-day.

After preaching against it, Apostle Suleman acquires a private jet – photos

General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has acquired a private jet. Omega Fire Ministry Facebook page published pictures and a video of Apostle Suleman inside his newly purchased jet saying, “join us as we congratulate our father, the restoration apostle, God’s general, God’s own oracle, a dispensation of our time, the lion of Africa, Apostle Prof. Johnson Suleman on his brand new private jet for the propagation of the gospel of Christ to nations of the world with his undiluted word of power, signs, wonders, deliverance, healing and restoration and the prophetic. (Mark 16:14 – 18; Luke 4:17 – 23).
If the church’s claim on their social media page is true, then Apostle Suleiman has now joined the club of Nigerian pastors who own private jets. Those in this list include the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; Senior Pastor of Word of Life Bible Church, Ayo Oritsejafor; presiding Bishop of the Faith Tabernacle (Winners’ Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo; and a host of others.
Recall that in January 2018, Apostle Suleman had urged the rich to focus on helping the poor rather than buying expensive cars and private jets. He had preached that wealth was measured by the number of lives one has touched and not by one’s material possessions.

“A man who pays the school fees consistently for seven people is richer than the man who has a private jet. Wealth is not the cars you buy; it is not the private jets you buy. Your wealth is the life you have affected. You are not termed successful because you have money. Your success in life is a function of how many people who have become successful through your success.

“Success without affecting others is a failure in disguise. How many of you are rich? You are a rich person. You are not rich because you have Jesus. You are not rich because you have Christ. You are not rich because Christ didn’t promise you riches, by receiving him, you become rich; he didn’t promise you that. You are rich because somebody is living because of you. You are rich by how many lives you have affected.” he said
