Champions League: Steven Gerrard, Lampard Reveal Why Salah Can't Celebrate His Goals Against Roma

Liverpool superstar, Mohammed Salah, chose not to celebrate his brace against Roma in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash on Tuesday night.

Salah left the Serie A giants for the Premier League club in the summer, putting pen to paper with Liverpool in a deal worth £35million.

When he netted twice against them at Anfield, he held up his hands in the air, as his team-mates went wild around him.

Speaking in the BT Sport studio after the game Gary Lineker, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, and Steven Gerrard reacted to his lack of celebration.

Lineker said: “Equally impressive was that it must have been so difficult not to celebrate in the semi-final of the Champions League and out of respect, obviously for Roma, he didn’t.”

Lampard replied: “Fair play, I like that.”

“Inside he must have been bursting to go crazy,” Gerrard added.

Champions League: Klopp Reacts To Salah's Part In Liverpool 5-2 Win Over Roma

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has hailed the “outstanding” Mohamed Salah after his match-winning performance against Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Salah scored the two opening goals against his former side during the 5-2 victory at Anfield and assisted the following two for Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

The Egyptian winger now has 43 goals in 47 games for Liverpool this season.

“In that shape, [he was] outstanding – pretty much not to defend, to be honest.

“In the first 15 minutes, we needed to learn a little bit, to adapt to the formation of the opponent. Then we played how we played. He has a massive impact on that, of course.

“The first goal is just a genius strike. He’s already scored a few like this – that makes it even more special. It makes it clear it is no coincidence. The second goal was brilliant play… Then he makes the other two goals.

“If you think he’s the best in the world, write it or say it. He is in outstandingly good shape, in world-class shape, 100 per cent. That’s good.

“To be the best in the world you need to do that over a longer period, I think. There are a few others who are not too bad. He is a fantastic player and I’m really happy to have him,” Klopp told reporters after the game.

Real Madrid are set to offer Liverpool three first-team stars and cash to land Mohamed Salah.

Salah has emerged as a top target for Real Madrid after a stunning debut season at Anfield.

Since signing for the Reds from Roma for just £37m, Salah has become top scorer in the Premier League with 28 goals.

The Egyptian’s form for Liverpool domestically and in the Champions League has attracted Real Madrid’s interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid are set to make big changes to their squad following a disappointing campaign in La Liga.

A source at the Santiago Bernabeu told Don Balon that Real president, Florentino Perez is willing to include Isco, Lucas Vazquez and Keylor Navas in an exchange deal for Salah.

It is said the value of the trio comes to around £130m.

Liverpool apparently value Salah at a staggering £175m.

Zinedine Zidane’s side would also make up the difference in cash, which comes to another £45m.

Champions League: Klopp Reveals Injured Salah State

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has revealed what injured player, Mohamed Salah told him concerning his injury after the stunning 3-0 bashing of Manchester City in the Champions League quarter final first leg on Wednesday.

The Egyptian scored his 38th goal of the season to help Liverpool clinch a 3-0 win at Anfield but hobbled off in the second-half.

He was seen holding his groin before being assessed by the medical team and headed straight down the tunnel.

The 25-year-old later returned to sit with his teammates on the bench.

Liverpool play rivals Everton on Saturday, before travelling to the Etihad for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.

Asked whether Salah suffered a groin injury against City, Klopp told BT Sport, “I hope not… he said to me immediately after the game: ‘all fine, all good’.

“I hope that’s the case, we need to wait and hope.”

Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane has warned Liverpool winger, Mohamed Salah, that he is back to claim his Golden Boot hat-trick.

Kane won the award for the last two seasons, but missed the last three weeks with a ligament injury. The England striker made his return on Sunday, in their 3-1 win at Chelsea.

In that time, Salah pulled five goals clear in the race to become the Premier League’s top scorer.

The Egyptian now has 29 top flight goals compared to Kane’s 24.

“Salah’s done fantastic, he’s a great great player. Yeah, it’s competition. I had the same last year.

“For me, I’ve got to focus on my own game and my own team, and we’ll see what happens come the end of the season.

“He’s obviously got a bit of a head start now, and we’ll see what happens. I can’t control what he does, so I’ve just got to make sure I prepare well for games and just be ready,” Kane said.

EPL: Roma Reveals Why They Sold Salah To Liverpool

 

Roma’s transfer chief, Ramon “Monchi Rodriguez, has revealed that the club was helpless about selling Mohammed Salah to Liverpool last summer.

Monchi, speaking at Rome’s Foreign Press Association on Wednesday, claimed they had to sell the Egyptian before June 30 last year to balance their books.

Salah joined the Reds in a €42million deal and his value has skyrocketed ever since.

With 28 goals in 30 English Premier League matches this season, nobody in Europe’s top five leagues has scored more than Salah.

Overall he has 36 goals in 40 matches in all competitions since joining Liverpool.

“On Salah there are two important things to understand.

“First, Salah was sold before the Neymar effect revolutionized the market. Second, we had a necessity to sell Salah before June 30.

“Anyone who understands a bit of this business knows that that’s like having a sword pointed at your neck.

“So taking into account these two conditions, I think we made a sale that was fairly big,” Monchi said.

Champions League: Salah Mocks Manchester United After Lossing 2-1 To Sevilla

Liverpool winger, Mohammed Salah, has mocked Manchester United following their shock exitin the Champions League to Sevilla .

Salah was subdued in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to the Red Devils last weekend, with Ashley Young making fun on him on social media.

The makeshift left-back uploaded a picture of himself at the Carrington training base with the caption: “Stop asking me! He’s not in my pocket, I swear he’s not.”

After Wissam Ben Yedder’s double punished a defensive display from Jose Mourinho’s side, Salah couldn’t resist having a dig.

“The UCL draw can’t come soon enough,” Salah tweeted, adding a cheeky laughing emoji.

Liverpool is in the draw after thrashing Porto 5-0 on aggregate in the last 16.

The Reds are, however, five points behind their rivals in the Premier League table in the race for second spot.
