 www.naijavoiceofthemasses.blogspot.com
Heavily armed security men of the Nigeria Police Force and the State Security Service have surrounded the premises of the African Independent Television, AIT.

This was after the station came back on air late Friday.

This was disclosed by the Group Managing Director of DAAR Communications, Tony Akiotu.

Akiolu addressed newsmen shortly after AIT commenced operation, claiming that security forces gathered around the station’s premises.

He decried the development, adding that the action of the NPF and the SSS was an ‘unwarranted threat’ on the broadcast station.

He said that “by 12.30 a.m. Saturday morning, the premises was surrounded, adding that the “heavily fortified security operatives were carrying out surveillance on the premises.”

He said this was “unusual” and the motive “unclear” but the station will not be deterred as “the station is still transmitting signals on its national and global beam.”

Land tussle: Group decries police harassment, seeks FG’s intervention

Land tussle: Group decries police harassment, seeks FG’s intervention
Land tussle: Group decries police harassment, seeks FG’s intervention
Sequel to the continuous harassment, arrest and detention of its workers by the Policemen, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Faith-Based AIDS Awareness Initiative has cried out to the Federal Government for justice and intervention, by coming to its aid.

The organisation through its Executive Director, Pastor Folororunsho Oloruntunde, narrated its ordeal on Thursday in a chat with journalists in Jos.

Oloruntunde said, “We are tired of police harassment, arrest and detention over a plot of land that belongs to us and we are begging the federal government to call the Management of Police Staff College, Jos, to order.

“We bought the piece of land close to Police Staff College in Jos from the natives, who testified in court and judgement was entered in our favor five years ago, yet the police is harassing us, “ The director lamented.

Oloruntunde disclosed that just last Monday three of the labourers working at the NGO’s Headquarters site were arrested and detained at Bukuru Police Division on the order of the Commandant of the Police Staff College.

He explained that on February 27, 2014, Justice Christy Dabup of the State High Court VII gave an order to the Police not to harass, arrest, detain and disturb us from continuing with our construction.

“But in spite of court order, the same police arrested, detained our boys and even sued us before a Bukuru Senior Magistrates Court, which on Oct. 21, 2015, struck out the case for last of merit.

“We have written to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Commandant of Police Staff College and the Plateau State Commissioner of Police on the issue and attached the court’s verdicts for their understanding.

“It’s five years now that the police did not appeal any of the court verdicts, yet they blatantly refused to allow us to roof the building, “ he pointed out.

In a letter to IGP dated May 13, 2019, the NGO intimated him of the continuous harassment, arrests and detentions as well obstruction of its work on its headquarters building by the Police College management.

“The attached are judgments delivered by courts of competent jurisdiction restraining further disturbances, but this morning (May 13, 2019) we are surprised that the police came with a Hilux and arrested 3 innocent workers at the site.

“This act has been traumatizing and wasting our hard earned resources since 2013. This complaint is for you to use your good offices in letting the law prevail and prevent further violation.

“Since 1994, Faith-Based AIDS Awareness Initiative (FBAAI) has been contributing significantly to peace and health of Nigerians in most communities, “ the letter read.

Chief Gregory Pwajok, Gwom Kwata (Village Head) of the area, faulted and condemned the action of the police staff college authorities.

“My subjects sold the land to the NGO, which has gone to obtain R of O from the Plateau State Ministry of Land and Survey.

“ If the college claims the contrary, let the authorities show the world its papers for the land. In fact, no compensation has been paid by the Federal Government on the entire portion the college is built upon.

“It’s surprising that they are claiming ownership of the unfenced land to the college.,” Pwajok lamented.

Reacting to the allegations raised, the college’s Deputy Commandant, CP Rabiu Yusuf, refused to comment on the issue on the guise that the matter is before a court of Law.

Yusuf, who spoke through the College’s Public Relationships Officer (PPRO), Solomon Utuumu I. Nyou, said, “l can’t speak on a matter that is already in court.”

When asked who sued who in which court in spite of the earlier two court judgements issued in favor of the NGO, he simply said, “l don’t know but that’s what l was instructed to tell you, the press.”

Benue Herdsmen Killings: Nigerian Slam Buhari, APC, Nigerian Police

BREAKING NEWS
Benue Herdsmen Killings: Nigerian Slam Buhari, APC, Nigerian Police
Nigerians have called out President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigeria Police over the continuous killings in Benue state.
Recall that Rev Fathers Gor Joseph and Felix were on Tuesday killed after suspected herdsmen attacked Ayar Mbalom village in Gwer East local Government Area of Benue State.
Again, no fewer than 20 persons were on Wednesday reportedly killed and several persons declared missing after herdsmen attacked Tse Agudu in Mbawa Council Ward, Guma LGA Area of Benue State.
Buhari in response had on Tuesday described the killings of the Catholic priests as a plot to stoke up religious conflict and plunge communities in the country into endless bloodletting.
However, some Nigerians in reaction to the killings took to social media expressing their grief over the incapability of Buhari’s government to act swiftly rather than issue condolence statements.
Here are some comments on Twitter:
@Jackdre02 “People, human beings are dying like rats in Benue and parts of the north, but we are quiet, we used to have one united voice of outrage pre-2015, a lot of people’s empathy died after the elections and only a few of us are now left expressing outrage on these killings.”
@Dipoawojide “Over 1, 000 Nigerians have been killed in the Middle Belt in the last one year and Buhari went to London to say he has done excellently security-wise. What has he done? Every single life matters. This is failure of governance.”
@Bayulivelife “APC was never a genuine empathy, it was all propaganda. They never loved us, it was all for the money.” “Hardly does a day pass without a horror tale of these Fulani herdsmen killings. They keep on telling us it’s herders/farmers crisis. So church too has now turn to Farms right.”
@Ademyiwa “All those Policemen wasting time and efforts stopping the #BringBackOurGirls sit-outs should be in Benue and other places where people no longer sleep with their two eyes closed. Ceteris paribus.”
@Simebricks “With all due respect Mr. President,dz assurances of urs has become a cliche. Until one of ur own is a victim, all u pledge is lip service.
@Benuetivboy “Benue is a killing field. @MBuhari you promised to keep us safe. Did you lie or is the situation more than you can handle? You are failing the people everyday.”
@Ogbenidipo “Please pay attention to the killings in Benue. This is more important than anything happening to Dino right now.”The senseless killings haven’t stopped. The Federal Government has failed.”
@Hoolarlah “I struggle to understand exactly what buhari and his government want to achieve by allowing this crisis escalate further.I just can’t reconcile how we allowed such a man become president in the first place.”
@NNamdi0gbogbo “Benue killings has turned political. The security apparatuses has to look beyond their present scope.”
@donfelix2 “Police and other security agencies can use all the resources to go after @OfficialAPCN enemies but cannot pull those same resources to stop the maiming and senseless killings in Zamfara, Benue, Taraba.”
@Oladayoferguson “We don’t need words, actions speaks better. What a president !! Worthy of note is that he was a general. A retired general who is fathomless and devoid of solutions to ethnic and senseless killings. You have failed Mr President. You have !!
@Rebroadcast02 “This is ethnic cleansing in other to Islamise this nation, firstly is to gain territory and boundaries which is what they’re doing now, don’t misunderstand it Buhari know what he’s doing, it’s a shame a President that meant ro protect people is fighting jihad against his people.”
@Kelvinodanz ” Million defenseless Nigerians will die in Benue, Zamfara, Kaduna, Taraba and it won’t even move Buhari.” Buhari is preoccupied with defeating PDP, Dino Melaye and other Saraki Allies. Those are the real enemies of Nigeria, not herdsmen and Militia groups.”

BREAKING NEWS
Ngozi Ezekwesili Slams Buhari For Oppressing Nigerians

A former minister of education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili has again taken a swipe on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigeria Police over invasion and harassment of BringBackOurGirls advocacy group during a protest.
Ezekwesili on Tuesday accused the Police of laying siege on BBOG protesters at the Unit Fountain, Abuja.
In a video on her Twitter page, the BBOG convener urged policemen to go back to crime scenes and protect the lives of Nigerians dying everyday rather than oppress citizens.
She further criticised President Buhari for keeping mute while the police oppressed Nigerians.
She said “The last 11 DAYS have seen our movement BBOG under the fiercest DAILY attacks yet from Nigeria Police which turned the Public Space of our Daily Advocacy – Unity Fountain into a Police Garrison sprawling with armed to the teeth Police men & women
“”The Police unconstitutionally launched a DAILY WAR AGAINST @BBOG_Nigeria, our peaceful Citizens’ movement. Meanwhile, the President Buhari watches on as Citizens’ RIGHTS ARE VIOLATED.
“How is it that the current government which when in opposition cried out for freedom of association, expression & assembly will now be the same government that brings out this number of Policemen with equipment needed in war zones to oppress citizens of the land? You will not succeed.
“We will not co-operate with anti democratic elements to mess up the hard earned democracy we have today. Go back to where you are needed, you are needed at CRIME SCENES; did we report any crime to you? Just look at the human waste, meanwhile people are dying because they are not protected.
“Indeed, we that have endured multiple attacks over the 4 Years of advocacy for our #ChibokGirls. We are not turning back. Turn if you want, but as for our movement BBOG, our advocacy continues at the Unity Fountain.”
