- He was allowed to make a phone call and arrange for bail before a security guard handcuffed him
- But in surveillance footage, Hlavsa can be seen messing with the handcuffs and breaking free of the restraints
- Checking to see if anyone is around, he then makes a dash and escapes
- Hlavsa has multiple active warrants with Cleveland and Parma for contempt of court, larceny and failure to appear
A man is on the run after escaping from handcuffs at an Ohio police station over the weekend.
James Hlavsa, 31, was arrested on Sunday for a petty theft offense that occurred at a Home Depot in Brooklyn, Ohio.
Hlavsa was allowed to make a phone call for bail after he was booked at the Brooklyn Police Depot.

He was then placed in handcuffs and made to sit on a security bench while awaiting his bond.
Video shows Hlavsa fidgeting with the handcuffs and moving them off his ankles while a woman watches from next to him.
Getting out of the cuffs, he then looks down one hallway before searching another to make sure the coast is clear.

Local authorities told News 5 Cleveland that Hlavsa has multiple active warrants with Cleveland and Parma for contempt of court, larceny and failure to appear.
He is still on the run.
