Dapchi Schoolgirls: Yobe Students Fumes At The School Attacks By Boko Haram

BREAKING NEWS
Dapchi Schoolgirls: Yobe Students Fumes At The School Attacks By Boko Haram

The National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS) has called on the federal government to stop the attacks on educational institutions in the state.
The President of the Union, Comrade Hassan Musa El-badawi, told a press conference yesterday in Damaturu, that attacks on Yobe schools since the beginning of insurgency had claimed the lives of over 100 students in five schools.
He said, “We remember in sorrow our brothers and sisters who lost their lives tragically as a result of continuous attacks by the Boko Haram militants in FGC Buni-Yadi, College of Agric Gujba, GGSS Mamudo, GGSS Damaturu and GGSTC Dapchi. The recent Dapchi attack saga has further reawakened us that if adequate measures are not taken, more schools can be attacked.
He said NUYOSS was making it clear that Dapchi attack should be the last and effort must be intensified for the return of “our sister Leah Sharibu who is still in the hand of Boko Haram.”
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for their efforts in securing the release of the abducted schoolgirls but urged them to deploy more security personnel to protect all the schools across the state.

Dapchi Schoolgirls: Agoro Drags Buhari To ICC, Issues 72-hrs Ultimatum For The Release Of The Christian Girl, Leah Sharibu

BREAKING NEWS
Dapchi Schoolgirls: Agoro Drags Buhari To ICC, Issues 72-hrs Ultimatum For The Release Of The Christian Girl, Leah Sharibu
The national chairman, National Action Council (NAC), Dr. Olapade Agoro on Saturday gave President Muhammadu Buhari a 72-hour ultimatum to ensure the release of Leah Sharibu from the Boko Haram’s captivity.
Agoro while speaking in a telephone interview with journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, however threatened to drag President Buhari before the International Criminal Court (ICC) if the President fails to ensure the release of the only Christian student among the 110 Dapchi female students kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists.
The NAC Presidential aspirant lamented that, “it was unfortunate that Leah is being subjected to further physical and psychological trauma because she insisted on holding on to her religious faith, which is Christianity.”
Agoro also expressed his readiness to surrender himself to the Buhari led Federal Government to be swapped with the innocent Dapchi girl, saying that, “it has now become a crime to be a Christian in Nigeria.”
He said, “I am ready to walk freely to the President Buhari’ negotiators to take me to the Boko Haram for them to take me to replace the innocent girl. I am ready to sacrifice my life to get Leah released unconditionally.”
“President Buhari should engage his negotiating machinery to get Leah released unconditionally from Boko Haram latest by Wednesday. The innocent girl must not be raped or subjected to any other form of inhuman treatment because of her faith.
“I am giving the Federal Government the ultimatum to get her released latest by Wednesday. If she is not released, by Friday, I will be dragging President Buhari before the ICC”.
Agoro noted that, “since it is obvious that the Federal Government negotiated to get the other Dapchi students released, Buhari should come out and tell Nigerians, the terms and conditions of the negotiation.”
Agoro insisted that Nigerians deserve to know, if it was part of the negotiation that only those who are Muslims or ready to embrace Islam would be released by the Boko Haram, adding that Buhari’s failure to give convincing explanation will rekindle the suspicion of attempts to Islamize Nigeria.
He said, “The innocent girl is being made to suffer because of her faith. That should be a concern to all Muslims, Christians and parents in Nigeria. Nobody should be made to suffer, human life should be protected in Nigeria irrespective of religion.”

Dapchi Schoolgirls: US Speaks On The Release Of The Girls By Boko Haram

BREAKING NEWS
Dapchi Schoolgirls: US Speaks On The Release Of The Girls By Boko Haram
The United States Government has reacted to the releaseof the Dapchi schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram.
The world power noted that there still remained enormous challenges in Nigeria which would require the attention of the United Nations and other international players.
This is part of remarks by the American Deputy Secretary of State, John Sullivan, during the International Advisory Council’s closing luncheon held at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington.
His words: “It’s a whole-of-government effort. It sounds trite to say, but it’s certainly true. We work closely with our colleagues at the Department of Defence, USAID, and the State Department. I was in Abuja, Nigeria a few months ago, and the challenges are enormous.
“The threat from Boko Haram and ISIS West Africa, particularly in north-western Nigeria, is very serious, as we’ve seen just in the last few weeks with the kidnapping of another 110 schoolgirls, most of who have been released, but only on the condition that they are not  allowed to go back to school, which is astounding on its face. But we’re thankful that at least most of those young girls have been released. But we’ve got to address the security situation.
“But there are deeper problems – economic and social – that require not just U.S. Government’s assistance but assistance from a wide array of private organisations, other countries, and the United Nations. So that’s what we’re looking to mobilise to address the causes of the refugee flows out of that area and prevent these crises from developing,” the American diplomat stated.
Sullivan added that the problems of illegal migration and terrorism facing Nigeria and few other African countries would require more efforts and global cooperation to solve.
He disclosed that the US would work more closely with the G5 countries and national governments to tackle the issues.
“Looking at what we do in the U.S. Government, I’d focus, for example, on Africa, particularly in countries like Nigeria, the countries in the Sahel and Northern Africa, the tragic scenes that we have seen of refugees and migrants leaving Libya, Tunisia, Algeria for southern Europe.
“And those people are coming from countries farther south in Africa, where there is conflict, poverty, et cetera. So we’ve got to have – from the U.S. Government’s perspective, it requires an integrated strategy with our colleagues at the Department of Defence to partner host governments.
“For example, the countries in the Sahel, the so-called G5 – working with them to address the terrorism problems that are presented in the region, to establish a baseline of security so that humanitarian assistance, development assistance can flow into the region, and remove the causes of people who are fleeing those countries, risking their lives to cross the Mediterranean to get to hope for a better future in Europe.”

Dapchi Missing School Girls: We Don't Have Faith In Buhari - Parents

BREAKING NEWS
Dapchi Missing School Girls: We Don't Have Faith In Buhari - Parents
Some parents of the 110 Dapchi missing schoolgirls have expressed their lack of faith in President Muhammadu Buhari’s promise during his visit that the girls would be rescued.
President Muhammadu Buhari last week Wednesday visited families of the 110 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents at Government Girls Science and Technical School, Dapchi, on February 19.
But the parents have now said that they were not convinced by the president’s words and promise to use military operation to rescue their daughters.
Kachalla Bukar, secretary of the forum of parents of abducted Dapchi girls, said only the rescue of the girls could convince them of government’s efforts.
He told Sun, “We are not convinced about efforts to rescue our girls because we haven’t seen anything. We haven’t seen much of the military work.
“The Buhari that we know is a gentleman. I don’t think he will stand before us and promise to rescue our girls without fulfilling it. Of course, we are not convinced about the efforts to bring them back since we’ve not seen anything.”
Similarly, Zara Adamu, one of the parents, said only the safe return of her daughter could convince her.
“Baba Buhari has spoken. I don’t know what they are doing to bring our daughters back, but he said they are doing something. I will be convinced when I see my daughter back alive,” she said.
Mother of one of the girls, Harira Damagun also said, “Only Allah cannot fail, not human being,we have taken the incident as an act of God.
“We see it as an act of God. Oh Allah, help us from this predicament and save our children!
“All we plead is for the government to help us secure the release of our daughters,” she said.

Mama Boko Haram, Aisha Wakil Reveals Boko Haram Intention To Surrender

BREAKING NEWS

Mama Boko Haram, Aisha Wakil Reveals Boko Haram Intention To Surrender

Aisha Wakil, better known as “Mama Boko Haram” has disclosed that members of Musab al-Barnawi faction of Boko Haram were ready to surrender.

However, speaking with Tribune on Saturday, she stated that the sect that kidnapped 110 Dapchi schoolgirls were not heartless people and were ready to drop their arms and embrace peace.

Wakil, a former member of the Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the Northern region, set up by former President Goodluck Jonathan said the only thing stopping them is the fear of how they would be reintegrated into the society and how the society will see them.

“I was shocked, like every other Nigerian, as same history has repeated itself like Chibok girls. I enquired and I was told that it was Habib and co who took the girls.

“This is not Habib’s habit, son of Mohammed Yusuf. I know he is with Maman Nur one of the peaceful groups of Jamatul Ali’s Sunna, Liddawati Wul Jihadi. Nur, Habib and group are people with less violence.
“Why these Dapchi little girls were taken by them left me with shock. I know, believe and trust that they won’t hurt them or hold them long. This group I can beat my chest and tell the world that it needs peace and it wants to stop.

“These kids are not heartless people. May Almighty Allah touch the hearts of these dear sons so that they could stop. The whole world is watching. What are they afraid of? Who will touch a surrendered fighter? Do they think the world and I would not be there for them?

“Dear sons, my knees are on the ground, my hands up to Allah, begging all of you to stop. Try me your mum, just come out with the girls, please don’t do havoc again. From the deep of my heart, I beg with motherly love and tears.

“Stop and don’t let your sisters stay too long. We are not praying for future occurrences. We need the fight to end peacefully. Every individual in the country, mosques, churches, states the whole country should engage in praying. Stop blaming anyone. I believe if we pray more, God will pour down His grace on us, Nigeria will be better again,” Aisha said.
Bashir Manzo, who chairs the association of the affected parents, also speaking said that he would rather wait for any strategy the governor, who is the chief security officer of the state, would adopt, in conjunction with the Federal Government, to get back their kids.

“I and my colleagues are the ones with the authentic list of the missing girls, the 84 announced by the government is suspicious because the managers of the school did not tell the governor the truth.

“The formation of the association is to ensure justice is done in their struggle in actualising the return of the girls.

“One area the parents and the community were concerned was the circumstances surrounding the abduction after the withdrawal of security operatives in Dapchi days before the attack.

“It pains them so much; even the governor is pained by it

“Another issue of concern to the parents was the arrest of three of their members for allegedly attacking the convoy of the governor the day after the incident.”he said.

Dapchi Missing School Girls: The Girls Are With Us - Boko Haram Confirm

Aisha Wakil, better known as “Mama Boko Haram”, has claimed that the insurgent group have contacted her, confirming they have in their custody the abducted 110 Dapchi school girls.

The Musab al-Barnawi faction of the sect, is suspected of being behind the kidnap of the students.

Wakil was a member of the Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the Northern region, set up by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

In an interview with NAN, she stated that the abductors confirmed to her that the girls were safe and in good condition.

“They are even the ones that called me, and said Mama we heard what you have said and told me that they are with the girls and they are going to release them.

“I begged of them and said please let this not be another 1,000-plus days of Chibok girls, and they laughed and said no.
“I asked them where I can come and stay with them (girls) for two days, but they did not say anything.

“I can assure Nigerians that so far they are with my son Habib and his friends; Habib is a nice guy, he is very nice boy. He will not harm them, he will not touch them, and he will not kill them.

“He is going to listen to us, and so far he indicated interest that he loves peace. And I love them for that and believe what they said on this.

Dapchi Missing School Girls: President Buhari Is A Failure - Rev. Fagbemi

BREAKING NEWS

Dapchi Missing School Girls: President Buhari Is A Failure - Rev. Fagbemi

Bishop of Owo Diocese, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Right Reverend Stephen Fagbemi, has said that the weakness of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has been exposed following the recent abduction of more than 100 girls in Dapchi, Yobe State.

Fagbemi, speaking at the thanksgiving service to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Owo Diocese, held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Owo, said a government that fails to provide security for its citizens fails in all ramifications.

“The recent kidnap introduces lot of complications into the system, because the president pledged that he would bring back the Chibok girls, and accused the previous administration of not being effective.

“However, this happened right under his watch. You would have thought that our president would actually be everywhere to say, ‘look, we are there with you and understand what is going on.

“The kidnap of the girls also means that the weakness of this government is being exposed to people and the president is not as efficient as he promised and the whole apparatus of government is no longer functioning well, since he came on board.

“So, what would they have achieved? I think this recent incident drives home the point that there is much insecurity in our land. The primary business of government is to provide security for the people. A government that fails to provide security has failed its people completely.”

He further advised Buhari not to seek reelection, adding that, “With all due respect, while we appreciate the interest of our president, I think he needs to retire as a statesman and allow younger people to actually lead in this country.”

Dapchi Abduction: Service Chiefs Meet In Maiduguri
The Chief of Defence Staff, Gabriel Olonisakin, on Thursday, alongside other service chiefs, held a three-hour meeting with troops’ commanders over the search for the abducted Dapchi schoolgirls.
The meeting took place at the military Command and Control Centre at the MaiMalari Cantonment.
Defence Spokesperson, John Again, a Brigadier-General, speaking to journalists after the meeting said operational strategy for the search for the girls would no longer be discussed in the public, rather the military will only communicate successes recorded
Mr. Again said the service chiefs held meeting to review the entire counter-insurgency operations, including the search for the Dapchi schoolgirls.
“The Chief of Defence Staff and other service chiefs came into the Theatre Command to review the main operations, particularly the Operation to get back the Dapchi schoolgirls”, he said.
“The CDS is soliciting for the cooperation of the media and all stakeholders in this ongoing operations.
“To this end, he is asking for maturity in handling the media so that we don’t speculate. For instance there are some ongoing speculation that the military has employed the services of some fishermen and farmers.
“This speculation in the view of the Chief of Defence Staff, can jeopardise the operation and also endanger the lives of the girls as well as all those who are involved in the operations.
“While the military is soliciting for useful information from the well-meaning general public, the military has not singled out fishermen and farmers for this assailants; rather the military is asking for anybody that has useful information.
“What we will be doing henceforth is to limit the way we publicise the strategy used in the operations. Rather, we will communicate the successes of the operations,” he stated.
