PDP Is Irredeemable, It's Riddled With Impunity - SDP National Secretary, Gabam

BREAKING NEWS
PDP Is Irredeemable, It's Riddled With Impunity - SDP National Secretary,  Gabam
The National Secretary, Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Shehu Gabam, has said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) cannot be cured of impunity.
According to him, the lack of remorse on the part of some chieftains of the Party who were alleged to have carried out acts of impunity during the Party’s last national convention showed that the PDP could no longer be redeemed.
He told Business Day in an interview: “We invested our time and resources to make sure we gave the party the best that any human can give. Our recommendations on how to remodel and restructure the party were well accepted. The NEC also approved it. But again it was jettisoned.
“At the Convention, there was no single semblance that everything that was generated by the committees was imbibed. There was no sign of remorse.
“PDP wasn’t built by people who were shortsighted. It was built by great visionary leaders and politicians who during the dark days of military regime damned the consequences and formed a formidable national party. I am happy that what they did gave this country democratic stability for 16 years. It revolutionised the political space and sparked massive technological and infrastructural development. But, of course, along the line some rascality manifested in the party.
“But, people assumed office and felt nobody could talk to them, the abuse of the party became entrenched. The basic structure of the party was abandoned by so-called contact men from outside the party structure.
“Not too long ago, we saw great personalities of the party move out to join the APC as a result of impunity. Yet, with all this consequences, and all the fact findings we did, collected and imputed in a document, some group of people still felt that they must have their way…
“PDP is irredeemable. You can quote me anywhere. There is no one with capacity to redeem PDP right now. The people that have the capacity to do so have all left. And I can tell you that we are some of those who have the capacity.
“We have the capacity to deal with any issue with any individual. I am not reducing anybody but I can tell you that if at this material time the political colossus like Professor Jerry Gana, who is the custodian of the power and oratory the party, who has ideas flowing like water and a commitment to defend the party at all cost, has left the party then it tells a lot.
“Another political juggernaut, Professor Tunde Adeniran, took the PDP to the South-west. Can you have one person that can replace him in the PDP today? None,
“I challenge any person in PDP. Who is that person that has the commitment and acumen of Adeniran in the PDP? So it is not about personal or parochial issues but personal interest. The country is tearing apart politically and we need a rescue team. And we have come as a rescue team to salvage the country.”

2019 Election: Ex-Military Officers Coming Together To Deal With Buhari - Mohammed Abdulrahman

 BREAKING NEWS
2019 Election: Ex-Military Officers Coming Together To Deal With Buhari - Mohammed Abdulrahman

A National Executive Committee, NEC, member of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, has disclosed that some ex-military officers and politicians are reforming the defunct Social Democratic Party, SDP, into an organized and effective political force ahead of the 2019 elections to deal with President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Mohammed, President Buhari has become bereft ideas on how to move nation forward and was being afflicted by the poverty of political wisdom.
Mohammed told Sun that three Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwarts have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the SDP.
He further disclosed that all the retired soldiers in Nigeria were the people backing the SDP.
He said, “They are getting ready. If 2019 proves to be a herdsman issue and a Buhari power confrontation… all the former soldiers will set up a group that will deal with Buhari and every other person in Nigeria that is creating problem. So, they should not just look at SDP simply.
“I think Buhari may have the honour to be president of Nigeria, but I think he is very bereft of political wisdom, a man lacking, very lacking…the poverty of political wisdom is afflicting him.
“He is suffering from the poverty of political wisdom. That is the simplest I can put it and I think Nigerians will understand this.”

Ex Minister, Babatope Reacts To The Defection Of PDP Chieftains, Adeniran, Gana To SDP

 BREAKING NEWS

Ex Minister, Babatope Reacts To The Defection Of PDP Chieftains, Adeniran, Gana To SDP

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ebenezer Babatope, on Saturday said that the exitof Prof. Tunde Adeniran and Prof. Jerry Gana from PDP would not diminish the party’s strength.
Babatope, a former Minister of Transport, said that although the two politicians contributed greatly to the PDP, the party should respect their decision to leave and move on.
“Both Prof. Adeniran and Prof, Gana were strong members of the PDP; unfortunately, they have left; there is nothing anybody can do about that.
“I am not one of those calling for their return to the PDP because they have the democratic right to join any party that suits them.
“Again, they are competent and intelligent adults who must have reasoned very well before they took the decision.
“Even though the feeling might not be too good, being that I have known them for long, especially Adeniran, I cannot fault or stop their decisions.
“I believe the PDP will remain strong even with their exit, as the party was built on strong foundations and not personalities”, he told NAN
He pointed out that Adeniran might have left because of what played out during the last convention of the party, when he vied for the party’s chairmanship position.
Babatope noted that he was also affected by the incident, as the candidate he supported, Chief Olabode George, had to pull out of the race to protest flaws in the electoral process.
“What the party did to us then was painful especially the candidate I supported, Chief Olabode George.
“Governor Dickson, shortly after the convention, visited us on the way forward for the party. So that is past.
“We remain in PDP and we will never leave. I believe strongly in the PDP and its ideals. Both George and I will be in PDP,” he said.
Babatope wished Gana and Adeniran well in their new party, saying he was sure they would be loyal to it.
The party chieftain expressed doubts that the SDP would evolve to be a dominant party before 2019.
The elder statesman said that his doubt was informed by his belief that political parties would need time to develop.
“But if at the end of the day, the SDP develops into a dominant party like its chieftains have claimed, good; then, we will have three dominant parties.
“We will all be competing together for the votes of Nigerians. I think, that will be good for democracy,” he said.

2019 Election: PDP Youth League Reacts To The Defection Of Party Elders To SDP

The National Youth League of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to the reported defection of Prof. Jerry Gana, Tunde Adediran, Alhaji Shehu Gabam and others from the PDP to the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

The news of defection of the PDP elders hit the Nigerian media on Saturday morning.

Reacting in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Zainab Al-Amin, the PDP youths said, “We the entire members of Peoples Democratic Party National Youth League (PDPNYL) received the news of alleged defection of some leaders of our great party including, Prof Jerry Gana, Prof Tunde Adeniran and Alhaji Shehu Gabam to Social Democratic Party (SDP) with great shock and sadness.

“It is our candid opinion that the least expected of people that have had so much gains from the party is to join hands with the indefatigable leadership of our great party led by Prince Uche Secondus and his team of National Working Committee to rebuild the party for greatness, reposition it and Regain every lost ground.

“While we mourn the exit of the aforementioned leaders from the party, it is our candid belief that the PDP National Youth League will not be broken.

“The PDPNYL shall continue to reach out to and galvanize young Nigerians into our great party to ensure maximum support of the youths ahead of 2019 election.

“The PDPNYL shall always liaise with the office of the National Youth Leader, National Publicity Secretary, National Women Leader, National Secretary, National Chairman and every other relevant organs at all levels to achieve this aim.

“Though we believe that the PDP is the only party that can resoundingly defeat the ruling All Progressive Congress in 2019 and beyond, we wish the aforementioned leaders well in their new found party.”

2019 Election: I Dumped PDP To SDP Because Of Impunity And Imposition - Tunde Adeniran

A former Minister of Education, Tunde Adeniran, has explained why he left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with his supporters to join the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

Both Adeniran and Gana were members of the Board of Trustees of the main opposition party before their defection to the SDP.

Adeniran was a PDP national chairmanship candidate in the December 9 convention of the party, and Prof Gana was one of his staunch supporters.

Speaking with Punch in Abuja on Saturday, Adeniran said he decided to dump PDP because of impunity and imposition of candidates.

Adeniran said, “I have left the PDP for the SDP with my supporters . I left because there is no internal democracy in the PDP. It may interest you to know that Prof. Jerry Gana has also left the PDP.”

When asked if Gana would fly the presidential ticket of the SDP in 2019 as being speculated, Adeniran said, “Whoever will be the presidential candidate will emerge from our convention.”

A former Minister of the Niger Delta, Godsday Orubebe, and a former Chief of Staff to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mike Oghiadomhe, have reacted to the report of the defection of some members to the Social Democratic Party from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Report emerged Saturday morning that the PDP elders which also had the likes of Prof. Jerry Gana and Prof. Adeniran have dumped the main opposition party for SDP.

The spokesperson for Orubebe, Gbenga Giwa, in a terse statement said, “While Orubebe could not begrudge people for defecting to any party for whatever reasons, the former minister still remained a member of the PDP.”

Also, in a statement he personally signed and made available to reporters, Oghiadomhe said it was wicked for anyone to associate him with the SDP.

He said, “For the record, l was never part of any group where a decision was made to dump PDP for SDP.

“To my great party , the PDP and millions of our members , no one has my mandate to determine or link my name to any political party without my written consent.

“Whoever must have affiliated my name to any political party other than the PDP does not have my mandate and this should be regarded as the handiwork of mischief makers.

“My membership and loyalty are to the PDP alone which is my party of choice since its formation.”
