Big Brother 2013: A tattooed glamour model, a male escort and a 'gold digger' lead this year's contestants

A heavily tattooed glamour model, a former male escort and a woman who runs a "gold-digger" website are among the bunch of housemates who tonight began a stint on TV's Big Brother.
They were joined by a deaf footballer and identical teenage twins who work on a supermarket checkout as nine contestants joined the latest run of the series.
The launch of the show has been given a staggered start with a further selection of hopefuls expected to be added to the Channel 5 show tomorrow.

As ever, the show has attracted an array of wannabes. They include nude model and aspiring DJ Sallie Axl, a mum-of-one with a full sleeve tattoo who claims to have slept with 70 women.
She also claims to have had liaisons with celebrities and footballers and was pictured with one of the stars of The Only Way Is Essex earlier this year.

 

Also taking part is Dexter Koh, who claims to have been a highly paid escort, strip club manager and magician, calling himself a "jack of all trades" and a "social chameleon".

Jemima Slade owns a dating website, said to have 40,000 clients, which puts women in touch with wealthy men, and the 41-year-old says she likes to date toy boys.
The single mum - who once gave a newspaper interview claiming she was bringing up her daughter to target rich men - is also a hairdresser and has tried to forge a side-career as a lookalike of Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker.
Housemates will this year have to show they have practical skills because their new home includes an allotment area where they will be expected to grow their own food. And they will have to pedal a cycle to generate their own electricity during their stint on the series, this time known as Big Brother: Secrets & Lies, which will last throughout the summer.
Another contestant is Sam Evans, who was born with severe hearing loss and as a result has had difficulty with speaking clearly. He has represented national deaf football teams and has never had a girlfriend.

Stage musical-loving twins Jack and Joe Glenny are both Tory supporters, have shared a bedroom for many years and say of themselves: 'We're funny, we're friendly and we're fat.'
Big Brother was launched on Channel 4 in 2000 but moved to Channel 5 in 2011 where it has struggled to match its previous ratings. The audience has dipped to below a million viewers at times.
This series sees a new presenter Emma Willis taking over the show, to replace Brian Dowling, with former X Factor contestant Rylan Clark now co-hosting the spin-off show Big Brother's Bit On The Side.

JACK AND JOE GLENNY:

They love musicals and treat themselves to seeing one every payday.
Jack and Joe support the Conservative party.

SALLIE AXL:

Age: 26

Status: Single

Profession: Alternative model

Summary: Sallie is a tattooed, rock chick, glamour model who describes herself as a bitch.

Sallie has slept with over 70 girls but describes them as “head f**ks”.

She has also slept with various celebrities including footballers.

SOPHIE LAWRENCE:

Age: 20
Status: In a relationship

Profession: Dental nurse
She says: 'I have webbed feet and I’m always joking about them. You have to laugh at yourself.'
Summary: Sophie is feisty and was brought up around the gypsy community, describing her granddad as a “gypsy gangster”. She classes herself as a bit of a tomboy and “not a bimbo”.

JEMIMA SLADE:

Age: 41
Status: Single
Profession: Owner of gold digging dating site
She says: 'If you have expensive tastes you need someone to pay for them.'
Summary: Jemima runs her own matchmaking website called Golddiggers.uk.com which she started in 2008. The website is all about women who want a rich man to date. Jemima herself has dated a Saudi Prince and a man worth £50 million.
She’s also got an eye for a younger man – her last boyfriend was 19 when they met. She admits to being a gold digger and a cougar.
She lives with her 13 year old daughter Lily who Jemima had when she was 17. She describes her as “13 going on 18” always telling her mum what to do.
When asked if she would have sex in the house, she says 'If I fancy someone, I’ll go for it.'

SAM EVANS:

Age: 23
Status: Single

Profession: Stockroom assistant
Summary: Welsh, funny and warm, Sam is an ambitious cheeky chap. Sam was born with 70-80% hearing loss, which his parents discovered when he was 3 years old.
He wants to become a role model to deaf kids who are too ashamed to wear their hearing aids.
He has never had a girlfriend and he wants to meet someone soon, although he thinks he is too young to settle down. He would definitely snog someone in the house.

DEXTER KOH:

Age: 28
Status: Single

Profession: Celebrity publicist
Summary: Liverpudlian Dexter’s jobs have included male escort, paparazzo, strip club manager, magician and celeb PR.
He claims he was London’s highest paid male escort. Dexter is single but says his love life is “complicated”.
He says he doesn’t get time for hobbies because he is always working; chasing stories and making money.  He can get very outspoken during debates and dislikes “stupid people”.

CALLUM KNELL:

Age: 28
Status: Single

Profession: Primary school sports coach
Summary: Callum claims that others in the house would get annoyed by his “very good looks” as all the attention will be on him. He likes an argument but doesn’t like very religious or overly camp gay people.
Callum currently works as a children’s football coach. He really enjoys it because of all the attention and praise he receives from the parents.
Whilst coaching in America, he ended up sleeping with a mother and daughter and thinks this gives him serious “man points”.
Callum isn’t looking for love in the house but says he is definitely looking to ‘crack on’ with someone.
