Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi, has blamed his team for their wasteful chances in front of goal against Tahiti,at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Nigeria drubbed Tahiti 6-1 in their first game of the competition, but could have gotten much more,if they had been clinical in front of goal.
“We had some chances, they needed to bury the goals,” Keshi said after the game. “When you play a game like this you tend to give the opposition team the confidence to come back.
“They scored their goal and reacted a little bit. I’m happy with how we did and we’ll see how we get on against Uruguay,” Keshi added.
The Super Eagles were initially booed by the fans at the stadium in Belo Horizonte, but Keshi said that the jeers did not have an adverse effect on the players.
“Most of the supporters are Tahitians or came out to boost their morale which is normal,” he added. “As a professional player you don’t need to worry about that,” Keshi said.
Nigeria’s next game is on Thursday against Uruguay, which will go along way in determining the fate of both teams in the competition.
