Joy IN THE AIR AS CHURCH CELEBRATE FATHERS’DAY IN GRAND STYLE

A Cross Section of fathers singing during the service
As fathers are being celebrated all over the world, St George’s Anglican Church, Asaba was not left out in the spree as the occasion was fully observed with a lot of  soul lifting, mouth watering and eye popping activities/programmes piled up to commemorate this year’s Fathers’ Day.
Fathers’ Sunday is the climax of a weeklong activities/programme slated to mark the Fathers’ Day in Anglican Church and in other orthodox churches and some Pentecostal church to celebrate the fathers, appreciating them for their role in the homes, Church and society as the pillar of the house.

Father's Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. Many countries celebrate it on the third Sunday of June, but it is also celebrated widely on other days. Father's Day was created to complement Mother's Day, a celebration that honors mothers and motherhood.
Cross sections of Choir singing unto the Lord

EEHB gathered that the event which took place at the church auditorium with its central theme as “Only One God” kicked off at 8.00am with A Bible Study Session and a Church Service featuring Exaltation, Praise and Worship, Drama and Song Ministration, Presentation of Gifts to the Fathers and came to end by 12.30pm with sumptuous refreshment.
The Preacher, Evang. Ezekiel Ifenudu while rendering the sermon implored the fathers to solely depend on God and not to let the circumstance around the deter from trusting God for He is  a Faithful God. He also enjoined not to toe the path of Asa, a Bible Character who after God has delivered him from the hands of his enemies and promoted him turned his back on God rather they should always follow the footsteps of David for he is a man after God’s heart.  “Be firm in your faith, trusting God to the end and not wavering, do not compromise your faith no matter what happens for God’s word stands not ours” he said.
The Vicar Rev. P.I. Okwuobi fielding question from the press
Responding the questions from EEHB, the Vicar of the church, Rev. P.I. Okwuobi said that a Christian father is one who solely depends on God, trusting in Him with all his heart, possessing the virtue of Christ Jesus, striving to be like Christ. Its one work in the vine yard of the Lord and provides the moral, spiritual and physical needs of his household. He also said that fathers should be firm in their words and faith in order to be able to surmount the challenges that face them more especially in the children upbringing.  “Considering the state of things in the world today, moral decadence, corruption and many other societal vices that has crept into our very world fathers whether Christian or not should not relent in prayers and playing the role of a father to the core, not compromising your position as a father, failing to correct your child/ward when he/she derails”
