John Obuh is not going down
without a fight,it has emerged that the former Flying Eagles coach has
demanded a N28million settlement from the Nigeria Football Federation
(NFF) for the debts owed to him by the football federation.
Last week Chairman of the NFF technical Committee,Chris
Green, revealed that they have accepted the resignation letter of
Obuh, and that they are severing ties with him and his
assistants, following Nigeria’s poor performance at the FIFA Under 20
World Cup in Turkey.
Obuh tabled his request to be paid such sum of money, during the
meeting called by the Sports Minister,Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, and the
DG of the National Sports Commission,Gbenga Elegbeleye, to address among
other things: the performance of Nigeria at the FIFA Confederations Cup
and Under 20 World Cup,and also the salaries of both Stephen Keshi and
Obuh.
An official who witnessed what transpired at the meeting told The
Punch: “Obuh told Elegbeleye that the NFF members were not there for him
at the time he needed them. He said that they changed his assistants
without his input. According to him they removed the assistant that
would have been of great help in Turkey for me.”
“The peak of his talk was demanding the settlement of his
outstanding salaries and allowances which he put the total figure at
N28m to the surprise of the NFF team led by Alhaji Aminu Maigari.”
