Nigeria has a “high” security risk rating in major cities due to widespread violent crime. Significant threats may develop due to identified risk all of which pose a threat to Guinness Nigeria Operations. Guinness Nigeria has a wide employee base Pan-Nigeria, including expatriates and their families, and receives hundreds of international visitors yearly. Counterfeiting poses a significant and growing threat to the delivery of the company’s organic growth plans and addressing the issue is a key element of the company’s business strategy.

The Security Manager oversees operations that must secure stock and machinery worth millions of pounds sterling
Market Complexity
The role will have support responsibility for a complex range of security services ranging from personnel/travel security management, physical/facility security, and events security coordination to investigations wherever these services are required.
Key relationships are:
Close contact with the Head of Security and heads of departments in Guinness Nigeria Plc.
Close contact with the Security Team, Health, Safety & Environment Team, Quality, and the Customer Services Team.
Close contact with local Police/Military and other government agencies and Security Heads of other international and large local companies within the country.
Close contact with senior Management of local guarding, alarm and other security companies.
Purpose of Role
To provide a continuous, co-ordinated and comprehensive security service, of the highest quality, ensuring that threats to company personnel, assets and business operations are properly identified, evaluated and countered in a timely and cost effective manner.
Key Accountabilities
1. Advise/Support the Head of Security and Location Managers, on an ongoing basis, on:
The current security situation, including criminality, at the designated location.
The general security threats to company personnel (including families and visitors), assets, information and business operations/activities (including the distribution chain) and of any changes in the threat as soon as this occurs.
The implementation of security Policy, Common Platforms, ‘Best Practice’, and Guidance Notes received from Corporate Security.
2. Conduct any security enquiry, investigation and survey/review in relation to any aspect of security as may be authorised by the Head of Security
3. Formulate, direct and supervise security procedures for the protection of:
Company personnel/families/visitors.
Company products in respect of their manufacture, storage and distribution.
Company assets, information, property and business operations.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required
Graduate calibre with a minimum of 6 years experience in business security management with a background in law enforcement
Excellent communication skills: written and oral
Ability to exploit all sources of information to obtain and collate detail on all threats or potential threats to the Company.
Ability to produce timely, accurate, detailed and concise written and verbal reports/reviews.
Detailed knowledge of all aspects of physical and electronic security devices
Proven leadership capabilities
Ability to effectively carry out investigations involving breaches of security and security incidents.
Understand the principles involved in the protection of Company information
Ability to provide a security input to contingency plans including evacuation.
Proficient use of Microsoft office suite

Working conditions
The role holder must be fully mobile and available on a 24-hour basis to respond to incidents and crises
